Chesterfield Avenue, Malvern

Vision: In addition to being the architect for this Malvern home, we also created the interior design, selecting complementary materials and fixtures so that everything worked in harmony. The goal was to create a soft-modern look that offers an idyllic backdrop to a relaxed lifestyle.

Approach: A neutral colour palette of off-white, pure white and soft grey for walls, tiles and benches was warmed up with stained and limed French oak floorboards, and contrasted with matte black taps and window frames. Charcoal and light-grey couches and chairs, soft pink and yellow cushions, and sheer curtains add a sense of comfort. In the dining room, a light fitting featuring a cluster of sculptured balls takes centre stage over a Danish-style dining table. In the living room, a black steel and glass contemporary fireplace is the focal point. Bathroom features include a gently curved wall with hexagon tiles, a uniquely large shower space with a black rain showerhead, black feature hooks for towels, and a full-width recess for bottles and soap.

Outcome: Everything works as one from the outside in, with the interior style offering a contemporary but welcoming place to live a relaxing lifestyle.

By having the architect also work on the interior design, the structure and style can blend seamlessly together. There’s a chance to offer tailored details that would otherwise be missed.
